Domain Registration Renewal Scam

  • Did you know?, Tech Tip
  • By Lauren

If you receive a piece of snail mail claiming to be about your domain listing, please read it carefully, it is most likely a scam. Domain Registrars like Godaddy, Network Solutions, Squarespace Domains (formerly Google Domains) and other domain name providers do not send snail mail.

Note how this example, which I personally received, says “This is not a bill. This is a solicitation.”

Domain Scam Letter

There are similar scams that try to get you to transfer your domain name ownership to another company that is 20x more expensive than your current registrar. I’ve had clients pay these companies, please read closely before you pay!
